2017 – Sankalpa

As we approach the turning of the years my thoughts turn to New Years Resolutions. If I made a resolution in the past I have always kept it to only one that will easily be kept throughout the year. This year I have decided to turn to yoga and Sandskrit and will be setting an intention or a sankalpa* for the year. I have done this because the word sankalpa carries so much more than the word resolution. It holds the energy of ‘definite intention’, of ‘a notion formed in the heart or mind’ and we are hearing more and more these days that research (finally catching up) shows that mind and heart work together. So it’s important to be connected to your Intention/Sankalpa emotionally as well as mentally.
My sankalpa for 2017 is to be joyfully healthier and more robust. I will be making sure I have regular MOT’s with my friendly therapist and I will most certainly be managing my energy more efficiently and remembering that I am the creator of my life.
I wish you joyful creation of your intention.
My yoga class begins again on 11th January and as always the focus is on anti-fragility, on the journey of becoming robustly healthy and strong. My therapy clinic opens on the 4th January for craniosacral therapy, massage and Reiki.
Wishing you a healthy and joyful 2017.

*Sankalpa (Sanskrit: संकल्प) means conception or idea or notion formed in the heart or mind, solemn vow or determination to perform, desire, definite intention, volition or will. In practical terms, the word, Sankalpa, means the one-pointed reasolve to do or achieve.
